A new Gage Pin
I have in front of me a sample set of new gauge pins that are a recreation of the Kort Gage pins. They are in almost every respect an exact reproduction of the Korts. They have not gone into full production yet, but a sample set of four sets are being made up. The fellow who is doing this also has a printing company that is well established. He is testing to see what the response will be and if the work involved and financial return is to his well being.
We have talked about pricing and it is undecided at present although it is well within the $20 to $30 price range. If there is one thing I hear constantly from my customers at NA Graphics is questioning the availability of gage pins. I see on facebook postings some pretty strange setups as printers try to work around the problem.
The Korts were a product of Butch Kort, a retired master mechanic at a paper mill in Wisconsin who made these in his shop at home. He continued until he turned 92, which is pretty remarkable but in the 7 or 8 years since then we have had nothing suitable. As things develop, I will keep you posted.
Thanks for the update Fritz. I look forward to seeing the product.
