Golding Pearl restoration Quesiton

I’m making some good progress on restoring this Golding Pearl No. 11. I’ve got most of it stripped down, but as you can see in the photo, I can’t figure out how to get this piece circled in yellow off the large gear shaft. Looks like maybe there is a shaft key hold it on. Any advice on how to get that off so I can remove the gear from the body of the press?

hu, you did step 2 before you did step 1. you have to separate, pull off this part, whatever it is called first. once it is off you can take the gear out. i think think this part was for driving the mechanism of the ink fountain.

Yes, this is my first time tackling a press this size and I’m a novice in the area of machinery in general. So, I’ve done a few things backwards as there isn’t much info online on the breakdown process.

These pics are VERY helpful, thank you! I had a gear puller on this to begin with, but it wasn’t budging, so I didn’t want to stress it too much. Maybe some PB laser will help and I’ll give it another go.

Update: I got the big gear off. Thanks, macernst!
