Printing round coasters in two colors.
Printing round coasters in two colors on a platen press was a interesting challenge.
Here is how I did it using my Paw-Claws Easy to Use Gauge pins.

Yes, I am sure you will notice that I spin the flywheel toward the operator. We can discuss that forever, but that’s how I do it. I am a lefty after all.

Thanks! Do you think it could be done on a press with no throw-off? (Treadle powered so can go slow but only up to a point, not the same level of slow speed control as on a speed-controlled motor.) Or was it necessary to use the throw off and have a few chances to adjust the orientation of the round coaster?
Or would there be some other solution such as taping or adding something to the round stock that would engage with the gauge pins (like the 90 degree corner of regular square stock does.)
Great question.
I tried using a hack saw blade to cut a simple notch along the edge(s) of the stack of coasters.
I then put a thumbtack through the backside of the tympan
( I had snapped off the pointed tip), in order to create a hard stop for the alignment. aligning the notch with the protruding tack.
It seemed to work. It is worth a try. If you can regulate your speed and get your timing and dexterity right it could work without the through off.
Let me know how it works for you.
Thanks,
Steve V.
