New Old Miehle V-50
Howdy All,
I work at Kinker Press in Richmond, Va where we have 8 Windmills running and have just saved a V-50 Miehle Vertical from the scrapyard. Serial # V-14249. Anyone got an idea of the year based on this SN? I’m guessing Post WWII and pre 1950.
I have run 5 of these at various shops over my 47 years in the wonderful world of commercial printing but this is the first one that has the diaphram pumps intstead of the gast pump.
Anyone have a parts source? It really needs a new flywheel brake pad and drive belt. I also only have the 3,000 IPH pulley so it would be cool to have the full set.
I was in the Indigo and other digital world for the last 25 years and am pleased to be back running heavy metal. :)
Cheers,
Bill
Hi Bill,
I know that S/N V15469 was made in the late 1940s, so V14249 is definitely pre-1950, and possibly pre-WW2.
A VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) will allow you to control the speed, as well as adjust single phase for 3-phase AC. No need for additional pulleys.
Best wishes,
