Letterpress in Israel

I will be visiting Israel (please no political comments) and am interested in connecting with letterpress artists there. I would be pleased if anyone can point me to contacts.

You can’t plan a vacation to the perpetrators of a genocide, and politely request for the discussion to remain apolitical.

Ah. The no-nothing little puppy dog goes off half-cocked once more. Who says garlowstudio can’t politely request ‘no political comments’? You? Who made you arbiter/censor of forum speech. By your very idiotic, biased response you turned the request into the political realm. Sigh. In the future, you would be well-advised to turn on your brain before engaging tongue. :o)

Forme, you think Keelan is the issue, or the fact you decided to pick a fight with him more than a decade after you couldn’t agree on whether hydraulic fluid is sufficiently slippery?

Also, no-nothing? That’s new. I suppose there is something, then…

We understand why this subject raises very strong emotions. We also ask that our community members maintain a supportive tone when they choose to engage here.

In keeping with the longstanding tradition of Briar Press, please use this space to conduct civil conversation with your fellow human beings.

An innocent request for advice elicits an uncalled for baseless political jab and I’m the bad guy? :o) But I am pleased to see a double-negative receive comment; and here I thought Pedantism long lost. :o)

I know a local guy (southern U.S. here) who has traveled to Israel often. I’ll ask him and report back if he has any recommendations.

You might find the printer interesting. I have not had contact in several years but he sells his books internationally. Check this site.

Good luck,

Welcome to our pariah country. You can contact me at +972544937335 or [email protected]. I’m a poet and amateur letterpress artist with a studio in Pardes Hanna (between Tel Aviv and Haifa).

I was going to recommend Ido Agassi who I follow for bookbinding, but he mentions letterpress, too. https://idoagassi.com/
I emailed him once to talk paper drills and he got right back to me. When I clicked on Mike’s (foothillpress) link above for evenhoshen, I found they are the same people, so I guess two recommendations for the same place. :-)

Thank you. Yes, I saw his website and have him on my list to contact once I have my dates settled. I plan to be in Israel beginning of November.

I understand the commotion when one mentions Israel nowadays. Believe me, I am not happy with the situation and how the Israeli government is presenting itself. May heart goes out to both the hostages and the people of Gaza.

So please, let’s follow BriarPress’s request.

I will not say anymore but look forward to meeting fellow Israeli printers in November.

Sue

Laurence,

I missed you too. It’s been a while since we last talked. How are things in your part of the province? If you’re ever in Kelowna, you should stop in for a visit. I’m more than willing to set all this silliness aside.

I firmly reject your oh-so passive/aggressive outreach for a number of reasons, among which is your recently posted uncalled-for, uninformed, and anti-semitic reply to a person seeking merely to locate like-minded Printers in the State of Israel. I could never associate with such high-handed bigotry.
Too, should I ever have the misfortune to find myself in the Socialist realm of British Columbia, Canada, yours is company I most certainly would not seek.
