1870 Fleury Etching Press

For sale is a rare and beautiful Fleury Etching Press, circa 1870, with a long and storied history

This press started life in a print shop in Paris, France, called Le Blanc Atelier. When the print shop sold the press to an American artist couple in 1951, they told them their print shop was popular with young artists of the day who would come in to pull prints of their copper etchings on this beautiful iron and steel press.

Artists who cranked this flywheel include Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Georges Roualt.

There is ancient tape on the bed marking out an area of 24” x 48”, though the bed could easily accommodate larger dimensional papers. Press is in perfect working order, and is built to last forever.

Asking $35k, plus shipping, if necessary.
