FREE: Chandler & Price Letterpress, 10x15, 1918, buyer must arrange and pay for pickup and moving
I bought this C&P letterpress back in 2017, planning to restore it and start a wedding stationery business. Life had other plans, and it’s been sitting under a tarp since, moved once with us but never hooked up or run.
What you’re getting:
Chandler & Price 10x15 platen press, dated 1918
Fitted with a newer variable speed motor, which gives you a nice range of control right out of the gate
The rails need work to bring the press back into full operating order. I’m not a machinist, so I can’t say exactly what that entails, but I’m told it’s doable for someone with the right know-how
Has been stored under a tarp for about 6 years, so expect it to need cleaning and a full once-over before use
This is a project press, not a plug-and-play one, so it’s best suited to someone who already knows their way around letterpress mechanics or has access to someone who does. I’d love for it to end up somewhere it’ll actually get used.
Located in Martinez, CA. This is a heavy, awkward piece of equipment, so you’ll need to bring help and the right gear (dollies, ramps, a truck) to move it. I’m not able to assist with moving.
