George Chapman
I received word Wednesday that George Chapman passed away Tuesday in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa at the age of 92. George and his late wife Karen were long term publishers of the Silverton Standard and the Miner newspaper. Two of his children lived with him in a wonderful Victorian home they moved to in 2010. Their home in Silverton is now owned by Casey Carroll and Steve Rich on Reese St. George and I spoke on Sunday and he talked about future plans he had for his main interests, letterpress printing and antique cars. He had a nice printing shop both while in Silverton and then Mt. Pleasant. He was active in the Old Threshers Reunion where he contributed to their extensive print shop. George was a wonderful person and he will be greatly missed.
