Paper Recommendations

I’m looking to print invitations and greeting cards on a Heidelberg 10x15 Windmill. Looking for a 100% Cotton Paper that will give a good impression. Most seem to recommend Crane’s Lettra. Any other suggestions?

Also, where can I get samples?

Hi There,
If you look through the list of recent posts, you will find that this has been a popular topic lately with many good recommendations listed. Among them, Somerset, Arturo, Rives and Arches.

Thanks Bill, I saw that those were popular brands, but can anyone direct me to a website or websites where I can get samples of them?

Also, has anyone used any Neenah papers on their letterpress?

Just ran up a job on BFK, and that stuff is a dream to work with. It’s almost a shame to use ink on it.

I got it from dickblick.com, but apparently this is not the cheapest source.

The papers mentioned above are available from Legion Papers www.legionpaper.com. They do have minimums but they have a huge selection. Swatchbooks are available for all papers.

When I need to purchase papers by the sheet, I will call a local printmaking supply shop. They usually have no minimums. My source is Reniassance Graphic Arts www.printmaking-materials.com. They also have a large swatchbook which includes their entire inventory.

As far as the Neenah papers, I don’t know exactly what sheet you had in mind, but they do offer alot of nice stocks that all print very well. If you are shooting for the deep impression, their cover weights are fairly hard and you may not get the look you are envisioning. If you are open to the kiss impression, the entire world of papers are open to you.
