Handy boxes…

I’ve got a number of handy boxes filled with dots, parenthesis, etc.

Is there any logic to them or did different founders offer different sets and therefore there are a gazillion of them?

Does anyone know of a list of them with the numbers?

I’ll try it this way.

I’ve seen Baltimore Type catalogs from back in the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. Anybody got one that lists what each one is with the number of the box? If so, I’d really appreciate a scan of any pages that list them with the box number.

I suspect each different foundry did indeed offer different sets, and while it may have been logical to that particular founder at the time that particular set was offered, it probably won’t match any other founder’s. So unless you know which foundry each handy box is from, a catalog or list may not do much good. I do know that today, you can still get handy boxes from M&H in San Francisco: http://www.arionpress.com/mandh/catalog.htm
