Here is a link to a video shot at the Great Northern Printers’ Fair at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa on September 20, 2008. It shows a Babcock press in operation under steam power at the Printers’ Hall Museum.

Thanks for posting that. The old Boswell Enterprise in Boswell, Indiana, was still using one a few years ago. The paper closed with Cecil Krebs, the owner, editor, publisher, ad salesman, reporter and Linotype operator, decided to go fishin’.

I sent that link to my colleagues in the newsroom where I currently work … the newspaper industry has taken lots of baths lately, but at least we don’t have to take a steam bath on the job.
