Christmas Cards 2008

Usually I’d take the whole thanksgiving day weekend to myself to print our families Christmas cards. This year though there were just to many things lined up to make it happen. I did manage to squeeze out some time to get them started though. Here’s some photos for ya’ll… .

what letterpress are you using??

Looks very much like a German-made Hohner. See
http://www.briarpress.org/306. The model D was made in a 9 x 12.75 size, and was sold by American Wood Type Co. of New York in the sixties and seventies. It had a trigger on the left side of the platen that kicked the card out into a tray on the right side. A very heavy machine with a one-piece cast frame!

It is indeed a Honer, however it’s a model B, chase is only 6.5 x 10. It was bought from a dealer on Long Island, NY in 1972 by American Rubber Stamp in Waterbury, CT.

The arm for the auto eject was broken. I’ve had it repaired, but not put it back in place as I keep printing on sheets larger than what fits on the platen ;) I’ve also removed the ink ball. I just plumb got tired of washing it up ;) I’m not sure if the tables are on the right way as I can’t find a clear photo of how they should go. There’s three, one mounts if front like normal. One has a swivel mount fixed to the body, and the third mounts to the platen and moves with it when it closes.

There’s more photos up on my photo bucket now of the progression of the card.
