Moore’s Universal Assistant- a “must read book”

In another post, I mentioned “Moore’s Universal Assistant” which is a book from the late 1800’s, written for folks who were travelling out to the American Wild West. It has ALL SORTS of information about every aspect of life….. how to make wine, how to repair a steam locomotive, how to cut lumber, how to shoot Grizzley Bears, how to cure gout, how to get rid of vermin, how to calculate the Age of The Universe …. and so forth.

It ALSO has a rather extensive section on Letterpress Printing….. including roller recipes, ink recipes, the layout of type drawers and a bunch of other cool info.

ANYWAY….. after posting about the book, I was informed that Google has a copy of it in their Book Search, and anyone can read it for free! The copy they have is the 1882 version, which is different than my 1880 one, but it still VERY informative.

Happy Reading!
