Tracking down an antique wooden press

Quite a few years ago there was a museum of the printed word at the New York Times offices. It was closed and the collection dispersed several years ago. Among the collection was an old wooden common press supposedly made about 1780. I am trying to learn the current whereabouts of this press. If there is anyone in this group who knows about the closing of this exhibit and disposition of the contents including the press, I would appreciate the information; it may enable me to pick up the thread again after all these years and possibly locate the press so I can update my record in the North American Hand Press Database.
