I need to learn

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am a recent college graduate from Arkansas. I have a love affair with all things paper, and have long admired the art of letterpress. It is a dream of mine to someday open a custom invitation and stationary shop, but I do not know where to begin. I have been researching letterpress printing, and understand that it is difficult, and a constant learning process. Unfortunately, there are no letterpress printers in the area (that I am aware of), and no places to take classes. I am willing to invest the time necessary to learn this art form, any advice or suggestions on how to get started would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Sarah :)

I’m a beginner myself and just kind of jumped in and bought a Golding Official off someone here.

Sarah,
I’m in Little Rock. Besides having one of the largest collections of type and presses in the South, I teach. Contact me at [email protected]

I am in Fayetteville, AR, and thank you all so much for the comments, they have been very beneficial. I can’t wait to learn more :)

I’m in western, rural New Jersey - an hour north of Philadelphia - and have a rather complete letterpress shop with a variety of presses and lots of type as well. I do some tutoring when time allows - and I offer follow-up support after the class.
