Are “thermography” powders still available for Kelsey-type letterpress work?

Hi there…

First post here. Consider me a real know-nothing.

I am interested in buying a printing press for my daughter’s 28th birthday, and I have identified a Kelsey 5x8 press with several other accessories. One of those accessories is a raised printing unit (see the picture).

I want to know if the powders that allow this machine to work and raise the printing still can be purchased and, if so, where and what brand or type (pun intended) one would use for normal work.

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Sincerely,

Stephen Pruitt, Ph.D.

Sure they are. With that unit I don’t know if you can do a high volume but try Faust thermographics.I think it’s Faustusa.com if not just google it. Remember though that you need a wet ink type of printer. A regular inkjet will Not work.

I’m pretty certain Dr. Pruitt intends the printing to be done on the Kelsey with standard printing ink, not an ink-jet printer.
