Lowering a Windmill

I have a Windmill that needs some TLC, but the ratty pallet she was on was in the way of getting her clean. So today I lowered her to the ground in preparation for a major going-over.

A few photos are attached for anyone interested in seeing the process. Of course there are other ways to do it, and this is by no means a guarantee that this method would work for you. It is merely documentation of how I did it. Don’t try this at home!

Oops, you forgot the oil pan ;-)

No really, good job! I’ve also run four-ton strapping around those rods and picked up the press from above with a fork-lift, so it’s hanging from the fork…

Fun with large heavy objects!

IF you have good blocking (2 x 6 pieces are the best), you could use that instead of jackstands and go around with the jack letting one corner down one block at a time. This makes it really easy to put a Windmill on an oiI pan.
