depending on the height/ thickness of the plate you are using on the platen you may need a slight bend there as you have. they should optimally lay nice and flat , just kissing your sheet. this is how i run them anyway. too tight and it could dent the sheet or affect register. too much gap and they will vibrate/shake excessively. causing the same results. too much of a bend there and any furniture/chase could push against the sheet also.
