roller advice

I have a 8x12 press that is similar to a C&P old style. I have the original roller which are dried out and cracked. is it better to get my old rollers recasted or just buy new ones?

Shouldn’t be any difference except the cost will be less if you re-use your old cores.

keep the wheels and ship them out for re-covering. Platen Man is right

Modern roller companies (except for Tarheel who makes composition) need a core with centers on the end for lathe use. Many of them do not bother with old cores which have no centers, and may be in poor condition. They just make new cores. Here in California they charge extra to dispose of the old roller covering in a legal manner since it is considered some sort of hazardous waste.
