Call for Entries: Poetry Broadsides

Call for Submissions: Broadsides from New England Letterpress Studios Show 2012

Chickadee Chaps and Broads, an imprint of May Day Studio, will present a juried exhibition of letterpress-printed poetry broadsides from New England as part of the month-long celebration hosted by PoemCity. PoemCity is a state-wide celebration of National Poetry Month (April), concentrated in the small capital city of Montpelier, Vermont. It features a walkable anthology of contemporary Vermont poets, along with thirty days worth of programming including readings, lectures, workshops, and film screenings.

Show Dates: April 1-30, 2012
Entry Deadline: January 21, 2012

Submission Guidelines:
All work must be letterpress printed
Preference will be give to work produced in New England or by New England Poets
Work must be no smaller 8”x10”, and no larger than 26”x30”
Limit 1-3 pieces per studio/imprint.
Entry Fee: $10 per studio/imprint

Studios submitting via internet may send images, a short biography or artist statement and entry fee via paypal to: [email protected].

For those wishing to submit via US Postal Service, images, supporting documents and entry fee payable by check to “May Day Studio” may be snail mailed to Julia Shipley P.O. Box 29 Craftsbury VT 05826. Please send cds only, no printed photos or original works. Items mailed will not be returned.

All submissions will be acknowledged via email (or by snail-mailed postcard if necessary) within 48 hours.

If selected, a contract will be sent by February 12, 2012. Your work must be received by March 21, 2012. All work must be suitable for hanging: i.e. shrink wrapped or mounted on matboard. Framing is optional.
