C&P - Kimble Motor configured via “Friction Drive”

Is there anyone who is using a Kimble on their C&P in this configuration? It is described in the Kimble “Press-o-Matic” installation instructions where the motor pully/drive is directly in contact with the rear of the flywheel. This is the L-1864 attachment/model. The motor is mounted to a three legged base which in turn is to be mounted to the floor.

yes this is one drive configuration. make a guard to cover the “pinch point”

Thanks Eric. Yes, getting your hand between the drive wheel and the flywheel would certainly ruin your day. Reminds me of the old “wringer” wash machines. This press is being restored for our lobby “display”. All of our production work is now on Windmills and Cylinders.

I came across an original installation manual and had never seen this configuration. Until I had, I thought that the tripod bracket which holds the motor was a very odd design. Now it all makes sense.
