Naked Adana 8x5 (images may not be suitable for all audiences)

Here she is, well at least some of her. We have removed all the paint and are finalizing the cleaning and polishing of all the parts that won’t be repainted. Yup, even polished the springs and all the itty bitty nut, bolts, and washers. I’m very excited to see the custom color we had made, on her! I know, I know what we have done is risky… Living on the edge of letterpress how could something so wrong feel so right?!?

As long as the custom color is a Pantone color, I’d think that might be acceptable…

Fresh coat of paint!

I spent an hour tonight in my garage hunkered over an empty tuna can repurposed as a mixing dish, three cans of Tremclad paint, and syringes for measuring paint, trying to find the right blend of black, grey and blue paint that matches the existing paint job on my press.

We’re all nuts in our own way!

On a related note, this is the same press as mine, but painted almost the same colour as yours:

The colour will probably look better on a cute lil’ Adana.

I love it!

Keel an could you repost the link. It says the listing is not posted. Would love to see your press.

By the way, I had my paint mixed by a company that specializes in automotive paint! They are pretty good at mixing and matching!

Thanks Enrique! I’m pretty pleased. Painting was way easier than removing the paint. But it is totally worth it!

David… Does it pass the Pantone test haha!

Never mind Pantone for a vintage Adana, is it a British Standard colour? ;-) It’s certainly unique but I can’t help thinking it will show ink and oil stains well once you start using it.
Model Platens are usually black but mine is green and I’ve wondered who painted it and when.

ElaineRenea,

It would seem the link I posted went away because another BP member bought it!
