Personalized Niagara Falls Newspapers via Proof Press

I visited Niagara Falls for the first time in the summer of 1979. I don’t remember if it was on the US side or the Canadian side, but I remember there were street vendors custom printing your name onto a pre-printed tabloid sized newspaper to indicate you had made the headlines as “(your name) Goes Over The Falls”. Does anyone else remember seeing this? It seems they were using handset wood type and a smaller proof press. I had been in printing for a couple of years and had been interested in letterpress, so it stuck in my mind. I haven’t seen anything like these printed papers show up on eBay yet.
