Roller truck adjustment

Hey there!
I’m over here replacing my roller truck rubbers today….hoping to get a few more jobs out of my well used rollers…new ones are on the way. I just read the faded old instructions that came with my box of rubbers and it says that trucks should be expanded 2 pts larger than the diameter of the rollers. Is this how everyone does it? I’m using Morgan expansion trucks. I just retaped my rails to match type high and would love to fire things up and get a clean impression!

Those instructions were for Composition rollers and should be ignored if using rubber rollers. Get the truck diameter as close to the roller diameter as you can, then work from there with the height issue for the bed rails. Printing from metal type or regular photoengravings is far more forgiving with inking than when using photopolymer plates and bases and the Morgan trucks may prove to be a problem in getting accurate roller adjustment with photopolymer.
