Heidelberg Ghosting

Hello -

I am printing an 1.5”x1.5” plate and I think I am experiencing ghosting for the first time.

I have double checked the rollers (1/8 strip top and bottom of the bed), rotated the form, tried more ink, less ink, more impression, less impression, more packing, less packing, and makeready in the problem area. I have printed this form many times and never had a problem, but I was using a different press. This is the first time running this plate on this press. I have a back-up plate and I will try that now in case it was somehow damaged.

Any suggestions are welcome! I’ve attached a picture of the form. Pardon the filter, I don’t know how to turn it off! The picture is far more saturated than in reality.

What am I missing?

Possibly rubbish? based on conjecture, and just a little *one liner,!* from a long time H/berg operator, beg, borrow, steal, acquire, genuine H/berg Rider Roller, as an experiment to Prove/Disprove repeat mark rather than Ghost, just a possibility. Not Facts, as above.???

Perhaps this can be justified by close look (as far as possible),where the plate has lifted the ink on the cross bar of the *H* it is quite distinctively missing across the upright, as opposed to the also distinctive dark band where the ink has NOT been lifted from the blank centre bar.??

Clean your roller rails and the trucks fastidiously well. Keep them as clean as you can. Heidelberg recommends a light dusting of rosin to help the trucks keep their grip and not slip when reversing. If at wits end, you can always lay a light mist of spray adhesive on the roller rails, but first get them clean!

If that doesn’t work, well I wouldn’t know off hand. Good Luck!

Maybe a rider roller would help

If you want to try a rider roller I have a used one in stock along with the attaching bolts.
Just contact me to discuss.
