Rollers dropping

Hi all—

I have a 219 Vandercook and am using a boxcar base, printing from regular relief polymer plates. It seems the rollers on the non-feed side of the press continue to drop. I raise them but they drop pretty quickly. The roller ends up inking the steel base and all over the plate, not just the top edge. I don’t think the rollers should need to be recovered—they are only about 2 years since their last recovery. Any tips or hints at what I need to fix?

Thanks!

Hello Jaye,
Are you tightening the center set screws after making your roller adjustments? These screws are between the adjustment screws on each side of the roller frame and are intended to lock in the adjustment. They must also be backed off before you can adjust again.
