Seybold cutter

We have a Seybold 44” paper cutter we are hooking up probably from 30’s or 40’s it has a three phase motor, does anyone know which direction the fly wheel should turn (three phase motor can turn either direction)? Afraid it will do damage if turning the wrong direction Thanks

If you know which way the driven pulley or the pump is supposed to turn, don’t hook this up to the motor until AFTER you hook up the motor and find out which way it is turning. If it doesn’t turn the correct way, reverse any two leads and it will reverse the direction. Then connect to drive.

The problem is that we do not know which direction the flywheel is supposed to turn, it is not marked.

The Repettos at JR Press in San Francisco have two large Seybolds, and they said:
“On ours when looking at the face of the flywheel on the right hand side it rotates clockwise.”
Theirs can be set for a vertical rather than diagonal cut, and have special blades to cut tabs in that mode.

Thanks, that is what i need.
