NFS Adana Press at Anchor Press, Milwaukee
So I’d like to use this press but I feel like it be missing something. Can you look at images? I’m also including images of cases of metal type that just came into the studio. My bet is that the old cases are incomplete, better to start fresh with some ‘hot’ metal type?

if it is a good deal it is a good start. all presses need a cleaning and oiling maybe some new rollers.
If you operate the press by pushing the handle down, and the ink rollers go up onto the ink disc and back down smoothly and the ink disc rotates by itself the press should be fine. Oil every place there is movement of metal against metal (all the oil holes should be visible, but also the roller bearings in the hooks and the roller hooks where they slide in the arms). Everything that moves in contact with something else (except the rubber of the rollers on the ink disc) should get a couple of drops of oil. Then lock up something type-high in the corners of the chase, ink up the press with a pea-sized bit of ink spread across the disc, operate the press several times without the chase in it to distribute thenink, and then put the chase in and a full sheet of paper the size of the platen on the platen and press down on the handle to print. Only then will you know what adjustments are needed to make the prints even and clear.
