Moving a Pearl floor mounted #3 press

I need to collect a floor standing #3 Pearl, but I need to break it down to transport. The flywheel appears to be secured by a simple Allen screw lock collar. Is removing this collar all that’s required to slide the flywheel off, or is it more complicated, and are there any pitfalls (apart from the weight!) I should be aware of before I attempt this?
TIA,
Andy.

square pin or half round in there. use a puller if stuck on.
need help call Rick the press mover. 708 785-5491

Andy,
If you find a square pin under the lock collar, it may be difficult to remove. Using a gear puller can work, but if you experience anything like I did trying to remove a “gib key” on. a C&P, a tool like the one in this video may be helpful.

One technique for removing the flywheel, if you haven’r already succeeded, would be to douse the hub-axle join with WD-40, then cover the axle with something like a paper towel core to prevent heating it and heat the flywheel hub with a hair dryer on high for several minutes. That will cause it to expand slightly and it should then move. I would also steel-wool the axle from the hub out to smooth it as much as possible.
