Appraisal needed

Our newspaper has a few old pieces that we are wishing to sell or donate. The local university is interested in an old paper cutter we have - manufactured by the Howard Iron Works of Buffalo, NY. We need to have this piece appraised for donation value. Can anyone point me to a competent appraiser in the New England area or one who would be interested in looking at some photos? We’re located in Machias, Maine.

Mary I donated some equipment to a local university, too and they also said an appraisal was needed. I don’t know of any “qualified appraisers” for letterpress and couldn’t find any. Turned out, though, that the appraisal is only needed if the estimated value is $5000 or greater. It seem unlikely that a cutter would be worth anything more than a few hundred dollars.
