I DID IT!!!

Thanks to everyone that has helped me along the way up until this point. Tonight I finally got my first print on my new press. It has been such a long process from moving twice, cleaning, putting a hole in wall, through a door that is too small, ordering every part/ supply under the sun BUT totally worth it. I am so excited. Thank you all so much.

You did it? Good on a ‘printing press’ I suppose and not on a ‘printer’, as they are manufactured by the likes of Epson and HP!

Thomas, give the kid a break. Congrats Nancy, always stand straight when feeding your c&p and never reach for a misfed sheet of paper, paper costs far less than a new hand. Good Luck Dick G.

The best feeling in the world is seeing you first good impression come from your hard work.

I got into letterpress back in the early 60’s. Just holding your first completed job from your press is like holding your first child.
You want to show everyone!

Sorry… Printing press. I guess all the work of the day actually trying to finally get it to print tired my brain a bit and I didn’t proof read. And yeah, cut this kid some slack :)

Way to go. Just be careful. For some reason there’s a temptation to reach for sheets that miss or get stuck. DON’T DO IT! I run windmills and even though they’re automatic feed I still have to be constantly on guard not to reach in. Good luck. Ron

I learned to print on a treadle platen press when I was about 16 years old, the guy who taught me had lost his entire index of his right hand when he was doing a rush job during the Christmas season! Be extremely careful, you can replace a press or some type, you can’t replace a finger or a hand. Enjoy the printing on your press and everything that comes with it.

It would be great to see this first print. I am doing a project at university at the moment on what people put on their first prints with new machines. I would love to see this image.
