Adjust Platen Angle
I have a 10 x15 Heidelberg Windmill.
My gripper bars are scraping the die jacket. I have been told by local repair guy that there is no adjustment for the gripper bars.
I do not want to buy a new die jacket and have it end up with
low areas where it is difficult to get a clean perf. I definitely do
not want to put a piece of pipe over the prime offending gripper and “just bend it”. Way too shade tree for me. Can the angle of the platen be adjusted? If I can get the gripper bars more parallel to the platen then I would be more likely to spring for a new die jacket.
Heidelberg engineers do have tool to straighten the grippers. I had the same problem when I bought my windmill, in so far as one gripper took the corner of the packing off. My answer was to shim the offending gripper with brass shim where it is bolted to the windmill casting tilting it marginally to get it parallel to the platen. Not had any problems with it for the last 8 years. Hope this helps.

Thank you for that suggestion,
Might have to give it a try.
I’ve used franks method many times.
Loosen the two bolts which mount the gripper bar and add some anything; chipboard, or cardstock, to change the mounted angle of the gripper bar.
You might have to wiggle and love tap the bar after loosening it to break it free.
