A small band saw should woirk to cut the plate and base together. One of the problems with cutting once the plates have been routed is that there is often little surface area left for the bonding glue to hold the plate to the base, so they can become detached.

If you use any kind of hand saw, make certain that the cutting stroke is from the side with the plate, so the saw teeth don’t catch on the metal and pull it off the base.

Thanks jhenry! I will try that.

i use my printers saw with a carbide blade, maybe someone in your area has one, if you bring it to me i’d be glad to cut it for you, a shop i worked in used a band saw to cut mag dies, jhenry is right when cutting mounted plates they can come off the wood . good luck dick g.
