Speed control for C&P 8x12 new style

Assuming I can afford to get it moved, I hope to acquire a circa 1919 C&P 8x12 new style press that’s been sitting unused in a dry residential basement. It’s got a motor, no treadle, and when on it’s like a runaway train. So it’s not usable as is. How do I go about fixing this? Thanks in advance for your replies and happy holidays.

Try a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and a 3-phase, 1/2 HP motor. The VFD will convert to single phase and provide variable speed.

Hope this helps,
Brad.

You could also just get a treadle at Hern Iron Works.

is it the old electric speed control? or, is there a crank that mechanically moves the motor?
