Ideal No. 3

I was recently given what I now know is an Ideal No. 3, as a gift in order to start my letterpress adventures!
I am a printmaker and have been a little obsessed with letterpress but never had access to the correct type of press, until now.
I do not know much about my press and I was only able to I.D. it by using the museum archives here on Briar Press.
I do know that it needs new rollers, but it works smoothy and has no damamge or other missing parts to my knowledge.
Any information or help would be amazing!
Thanks!

The Sigwalt Ideal is a great press to start out with — it can do very nice work and it is quite strong. I don’t see grippers in your photo, but they are not hard to make. Did you get the roller trucks — small wheels that go on the ends of the rollers to ride on the rails on either side of the bed? Those may be the hardest parts to get if you don’t have them — new rollers should be no problem even without cores once you have the trucks. Good luck and enjoy a very nice little press!
