Coated Paper for Printing?

I have been printing postcards that sell with an envelope because they get damaged/dirty when they go through the postal system.

Is there a heavy stock “coated” paper that might be more durable for mailing without envelope? (similar to Lettra Pearl White 220lb)

thank you!

SecondBob:

You don’t necessarily need coated stock, there are many heavy cover stocks which will go through the mail without problems. The nature of Lettra and its very soft surface make it unsuitable for mailing without an envelope.

There used to be coated papers with a tinted color (offwhite), but I don’t think I have seen them listed for a long time (I htink they were called “Woodbine”). There are white coated cover stocks, however, which will print extraordinarily well and will withstand the mail abuse. Check out the Mohawk line of coated papers. I think there is a cover stock which may work well for you if coated is what you want. If you need an off-white color, you could print it, or have it printed offset before you did your letterpress work.
