I think you may find the bottom of your chase has a pair of notches that locate at the bottom of the bed and if you look at the other partsof the machine casting you will see the clip that retains the upper area of the chase you dont show the bit here as its probably on the main frame to the front just about the six o clock position of your ink disc . you need the machine assembled in order to fit it me thinks !

Your photo, IMG_2585.jpg, shows the bed upside down. The small notch in the center must be positioned at the top of the bed so that it will be engaged with the small lever which holds both the bed and chase in place when mounted on the press frame. If you put the chase in with the notch of the bed to the top, there should be stops which engage the slanted corners of the chase and keep it from just “falling through” the bed.

Difficult to explain without a photo, but try a couple configurations and I think you will get there.

i thought that maybe there’s a part that’s missing? the chasebed doesn’t have any notches or hooks or anything besides 2 small ones on top of each side, the little notch in the center on top and a small half-circle notch that’s the size of half a cent on the bottom on the left side.
if i place the chase on the chasebed there’s a gap of maybe 1/8” betweeen chase an rails. nothing that keeps the chase from falling right thru the chasebed or to keep it fixed in the center of the chasebed…

You apparently have the bed upside down. The two little posts on what you term “the top” is acutually what keeps the chase from falling through and should be on the bottom as you put the bed in the press.
