“How Ink Is Made” video

This video cropped up on Reddit today. It has been posted on Letpress, but I don’t find it in a Briar Press search (can’t search on phrases, apparently). It’s beautiful. Best viewed full-screen and with good speakers.

That is an excellent video. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Barbara. Aside from teaching people about our most expensive raw material after paper, it is instructive to see how easily professional ink people can handle small batches of ink using two ink knives. That procedure can be put to use by letterpress printers also.

that is a great video….

It reminds me of a segment on How it’s Made about artists paints. The process is very similar.

It’s actually simple to make ink…. BUT it’s rather difficult to make GOOD ink, which is why good ink is costly.

Thanks for sharing.
