AB Dick Co. 1909 printer

I have this old printer that I’m trying to find info on. So far nothing. I have seen many kinda like it but not a match. If anybody out there might know of a web site or any kind of reference that might help let me know please. I would like to get it appraised and it is for sell… have bills to pay! ;-) this printer is functional with all the goodies to print. I love to just look at it but it would be cool if somebody knew how to operate it and put it to work!

I have all the product records for A B Dick history and find no product during those dates that looked like that. The only thing I can think of is it may have been a stencil label printer based on the same technologies that was made for industrial companies. There was an Edison model 51 that resembles this but without the rails. A photo of the product name /number may help along with more photos of the device. Would be interested if you did have someone identify it.

Thanks,

John Dick

Hello John,

I am so happy to see that you are a member of Briar Press! I almost did a “double take” when I saw your name on the post above. As an instructor at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin from 1981 to 1995, my first job was teaching Vocational Printing, which was all you needed to know, to work in a small commercial print shop at that time. I spent many hours teaching students how to use A. B. Dick 360’s. They were a great piece of equipment! The presses were on service contracts, and the serviceman would often proudly state the full name of the founder of the company, Albert Blake Dick. I will never forget it!

Should you desire to, it would be interesting to hear more about yourself as regards the Company, and your relationship to Mr. A. B. Dick.

With kind regards, Geoff Quadland
