Line-O-Scribe dial broken

The dial adjusting the roller height of my Line-O-Scribe proof press got loose and then has come off completely. I can stick it back on briefly, but it rattles loose again. I don’t see a nut or anything to tighten. Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you so much for your help.

Martha:

There appears to be a set screw on the knob which should tighten against the flat point on the exposed shaft. You don’t show that side of the knob in your photos, but it is evident on the machine depicted at the following web site:

If the set screw is missing from your know, take it to a local hardware store and you should be able to find one which will fit nicely.

This photo shows where setscrew should be. Might be a recessed allen head screw.

Thank you both, and also to dickg who messaged me. I’ve learned so much over the last couple of years reading these discussion threads. I own a C&P old style too, which I got with just one day’s instruction, and Briarpress has really let me move towards being the printer I want to be. I’m grateful to everyone who takes the time to share their hard won wisdom with us newbies.
