Heidelberg Windmill registration problems - inconsistent

Hello,

I have difficulty registering 2 colours run print with my windmill.
About 2/3 of the prints are ok, but 1/3 are not.

Please see attached.

The vertical register is the problem, seem like the paper is not align properly.

Please give me any recommendations or advices how to remove this problem?

(I use Boxcar Swing Away Gauge on the left side.)

try the Dutchman method there should b a link on this site

I presume you have the cam on the gripper head (windmill head) set to gauges, and the chrome knob is locked on the lower lay spindle, and the left feed table standard is moved properly to the left…?

I would stop the press just after sheet pickup and advance the press by hand (no motor power), watching the process of grippers opening and sheet drop onto guides before the press is completely closed. There should be enough space between the grippers and tympan for the sheet to drop freely. The lower guides should lift the sheet and move it to the right to contact the side-lay as the press closes..

I would check that the lower guide assembly moves freely when the press is open (knob temporarily unlocked). Any binding or stiffness in the action can disturb the registration.

A video of the above may help diagnose any issues.

Also, slower press speeds can help keep the sheet from bouncing in the guides.
