Mr. John Horn of Shooting Star Press
Just wondering if anyone have contact info of Mr. John Horn of Shooting Star Press? I recently stumbled upon a blog post which mentioned a wood type facsimile reprint is available for purchase:
http://www.letterpress.dwolske.com/2010/03/28/specimen-sunday-8/
I am interested in getting a copy but I would like to know if he will ship overseas…
Any information is appreciated.
I believe that the book your are inquiring about is Hamiltons Specimens of Wood Type Faces. It is a great reference book.
The information in the book states that additional copies of this book may be ordered by writing:
The Shooting Star Press
P.O. Box 17252
Little Rock, AR 72222
Cost is $40.00 per copy, postpaid in the United States.
You will have to write and see if he will ship this book overseas and what the additional cost would be.

Nope, I haven’t used that address in three or four years. I’m at
94300 Chenal Pkwy. #71
Little Rock, AR 72223
Mr. Choi,
International sales of the Hamilton Specimen are handled by my bookseller. I’ll pass on your request to her.
Thank you for the replys.
Mr. John Horn, I awaits further info on the international shipping cost from your bookseller. :)

Hi John,
Just made a notation in my copy of the book so I can send people to the right address in the future.
The APA directory lists the address as 24300 but I suspect that the 94300 is the correct number.

Rick -
I suspect that John Horn’s correct address is 24300 Chenal Pkwy.
He has posted that address here on Briar Press previously:

Thanks Michael,
I’ll make that correction.

Looks like from John’s address on Chenal Parkway that he’s now holding forth from a storage unit according to Google Earth. At least he’s not got an address that corresponds to a large cardboard box under an underpass—I’ve always wondered how he did those marvelous calendars in such reduced circumstances. Maybe he has rented the whole facility to house his collection. Let’s hope for the best and that he’s not burning his wood type to keep warm.
