Specialty inks

Does anyone know what VanSon’s “Specialty Black” inks are?

They have “Magnetic Black,” which I suppose has magnetic qualities to it. There’s also “Meg-a-Magic Universal Black.” No idea what that does. I also don’t know if these are suitable for letterpress.

Anyone know of a pearlescent black ink out there?

Magnetic black does indeed have magnetic properties. It’s primarily used for printing the tracking numbers at the bottom of checks (called MICR for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) and can be printed letterpress.

Apparently, Meg-A-Magic is a particular Van Son line of inks. Here’s the info page for them:
