Hand-inked cylinder press feed boards

Hi all,

I’ve got a Reprex model 0-1, manual, hand-inked cylinder press waiting patiently to get some use… For those unfamiliar, I think it’s quite similar to the later model vandercook 1/2/14 series.

I’m looking to maximize my registration potential. It’s got grippers, so I know I’m already ahead of the game for register compared to some other presses. However, looking at some of the literature for this press, I noticed that there was an optional feed board/guide attachment (see attached image). Unfortunately, the image from the literature doesn’t show much detail of the feed board itself or how it attaches. I’m sure I could figure something out, but I thought someone out there might have something similar that they could share some images or hints for constructing something. I also added a picture of the press itself, showing the bars on either side of the cylinder that I believe the feed board would attach to.

Thanks in advance!
Aaron

Hello,

I do have a brass guide off of a hand operated cylinder press. I don’t know if it would work for you or not.

There’s a Nolan proof press on ebay that has similar feed board, I imagine you could ask the seller for some good photos to fabricate your own.

Thanks both of you for the speedy replies and good leads!

I think that Nolan version looks more closely like the style that would fit on mine, but it does also appear that it still might attach to a different spot on the press.

I’d love to see some more pics and alternative ways that different press makes handled registration and how others have retrofitted their equipment, so if anyone else out there would be so kind…
