Ink Disc not turning

My Disc Lever Pawl is not turning the ink disc. The photo below is when the lever is fully down. It’s a 6.5x10 C&P Pilot new style I believe.

hey there, not really familiar with that small press but, A) does the disk turn by hand? B) is the advancing tooth moving? C) is there and adjustment for one, two, or three tooth advancement of turning the disk?

Hi Eric,

The disk does turn by hand clockwise.
The advancing tooth doesn’t move.
And there are no adjustments that I can see that can be made. It just seems like it just barely gets to the other tooth to move, then sits there.

can you take or send more pics(open, half, &closed) of the mechanism then? might need a video of the cycle.
is there possibly a missing spring to pull the tooth arm back for next push?
Does the toothed arm move by hand(might have to push kinda hard, if so, oil?) at all when the press is open, closed, or just before end of cycle, open again?

Here is a link to the video https://imgur.com/a/XxxTUm1

I don’t have a Pilot readily at hand to check but My C&P floor model and all I know about has the Pawl on the right side.

It allows the counter weight to let the teeth engage as it turns and move the disk. Push out the rod and reverse the position to the right side and see what happens.

We have an American Printing Equipment Pilot clone (manufactured by Hohner). On ours, there’s a cam that pushes the actuation arm for the ink disk pawl. It’s held in place with a set screw and can come loose. When that happens the arm isn’t moved enough and the disk doesn’t turn. You might check for that issue on your press.

the video is good but, i need to see around the back where the linkage is too.

Just looked at the vid, the pawl is not moving the Disk. Pawl sits on a rod with adjusting screw, move until it moves disk

Check the adjustment of the cam which activates the lever on which the pawl pivots. Most likely out of adjustment. If not call me… I’ll walk you through further troubleshooting.

Got it working now, thanks everyone! I don’t know the name of it, but I just needed to unscrew and adjust the angle of the level thing in the back.
