Hi, I checked my first choice Skyline for a font with the social media icons for my wants to deliver to customers, but I didn’t see it there, nor have I seen them on a search of the web except woodtype.
Anyone have a lead on lead? (oooh hetronyms!)
Is it a baby you are baptizing ? or wanting maybe a fount of type? That of course being the fount of all knowledge.
(Its Adobe’s fault I believe, sometime in the 50s.)
I do have Coronation, by Stephenson Blake in just one size, which is rather like, and I could send you repro If you are desperate.
There are a few people in the US making new matrix and casting type from them.
As far as social media icons, those would probably be a situation where you need to pay to have the matrix created and then have someone cast them.
Val Lucas would be a good person to start with.
I think it makes more sense to get a cut made. A matrix is for casting thousands of durable copies. It will cost several hundred dollars in labor to make the matrix, and then the metal and time cost to cast. But a cut will be thirty dollars.
Or a photopolymer plate. You could get a bunch in different sizes on one sheet.
Sure cuts, copper l, laser cut wood/acrylic would all do the job, but they asked how to get them In lead.
Thanks for the shout out, Rob! I am, however, completely uninterested in making company logos for big corps like this, when there are so many other cool things I could do. It’s a lot of work to create a new matrix and cast a run of sorts, and I’m not wasting it on that.
I can, however, point you in the direction of available type casting machinery if you’d like to do it yourself :)
