CROPPER, MINERVA, Printing Press, *technical info*, or links to info would be very welcome, regardless of which size, usually covered by sections, on machines across the size range.
Any info however small, would be appreciated.!!!
Little sparse on the Web and B. P. so far.?
Thanks in advance, Mick.

Mick,
Got a Cropper Charlton catalogue somewhere.
What do you need to know.
I think earliest press about 1865 on, my Dad had one in the museum about 1870, contra rotating ink disk. Foolscap Folio 13 x 9. They did several sizes and the press went through several incarnations from J. S. Cropper, to Cropper Charlton & Co. Press manufactured in Nottingham.

Jeremy, Thank you for your offer and swift response, I have *jumped the gun* slightly, can not recover it for a few days, there is a mountain of stuff in the way, first,
It is with Contra rotating 3 inbuilt ink disc,s but cannot as yet determine the actual chase size to print,
2 points would be nice to know, eventually, (a) the original dimensions for the rollers X 3, the *good ole boys* over in Yorkshire.will recover rollers, but dont tend to have archive dimension records that far back.!!!
(b) but probably impossible,? technical drawing, (after identification of size) for the swing frame bed, it must have been lifted by stropping through the swing frame, (bed) involving Major break/fracture low down, has been welded up, was running/printing before demise, but would be nice to be able to check for alignment before attempting to press into service, Technical drawings probably akin to Rocking Horse C***, … When it is recovered, and identified for size would appreciate your input/info.?
Regards & thanks Mick

Mick,
Got no technical drawings of said machine. However, shoot some piccies as I have quite a lot of experience with treadles especially Cropper and Arab.
I put together a press from a pile of bits recently so I can help out. If im down your way soon and probably will be perhaps a looky see would help.
It was good to see you all at Amberley when I came with Patrick 3 weeks back.
Cheers,
Jez.

Jeremy ,Thank you, sounds good as soon as I can recover it, appreciated. + A new little museum in Brighton is being put together, I, by default, am sort of the L/Press Non, expert I have their Sqintani,S tabletop under refurbishment, there is also waiting, but buried deep in a barn, not yet examined in detail, for re commisioning, another m/c,! looks like A big all steel, (possibly) Albion, Columbian, Stanhope TYPE machine. Quick peer in the gloom, looks like Undecipherable name & Son(s) possibly Manchester. When the bat crap is removed and can be identified, would pester you further, if I may , An on sight inspection would, in both cases, (different venues) would be appreciated. High Vis jacket and Hard Hat, would be at you discretion, the Bats and the *Output* are pretty big in Sussex Barns.?? Regards and Thanks Mick.

I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking, Mick. But our friend Bogtrykkeren posted these photos of a Cropper Charlton from eBay a couple of days ago:

Kimaboe, Many thanks for the Link to info, different style to my machine, still buried, as yet, but hopefully within days *set free*!!! (bribery and corruption with “Da Man”) and his Crane lorry have to come into play. All and every link/pointer etc is of help. I need some technical specifications and/or drawings, unlikely, but I can but try. Jeremy @ Albion Press is a good source for info, but is Flying Blind until *The Old Goat* gets his act together.

K. Thank you again for your pointing “hand” >> Cast on the Monotype Supercaster, from a 72 point Display Mat/Matrix<< Of Course!!!

Hopefully, The Yanks understand Limey humour, ???
Every American Airman I met during Conscription (Draft >Stateside) early 60s, Understood, Appreciated and Bettered, us, especially when they were chatting up, our W.R.A.F. Girls. And we did not actually beleive, that they, (The Yankee Airmen) ALL had Uncles in Texas, with Oil Wells, & 22 foot Cadillacs, but it went down well with the W.R.A.F. Girls, & as the owner of a Pick Up truck, and a Tea Totaler, had some fabulous times, driving them around, Of Duty and Of limits, ocassionaly, and did inherit A small *Sigwalt* out of their P.X. (Servicemans Club) akin to our N.A.F. F. I. They didn,t actually imply it was *hot* but did say, not to advertise it, so I traded it for an English Adana. Possible mistake!!! Greenham Common, (combined R.A.F., U.S.A.F.) base was 55 miles from R.A.F. Uxbridge, My unit, they always sponsered the Fuel, for the gigs, and the occasional Sigwalt and I am not prepared to publish my Conscription/Draft service Number.
Regards Mick. (Mr. *X* under the Official Secrets Act) we believe???
